All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.

By William Carlos Williams

A full moon has this mystical quality – everytime you see one, it makes you stop right on the track and just admire. Happened a 1000 times before and will happen a 1000 times again.

I wanted to capture the sense of it shining bright and proud; provide hope for the lost; be there to guide you through the darkness.

Our entire home is surrounded with these beautiful icicles that have grown in the past 48 hours of warm weather. Relatively speaking, that is. They were gleaming in the awesome winter sunset and were begging to be photographed. There are stems as long as 5 ft at certain places. Kind of felt like natures progress indicator. Indicating the end of winter? Perhaps!

Well the time lapse bug bit me as well. So here is my first attempt at capturing a snow fall in the good ol’ town of Bloomington, MN.

Here is how the video was shot.

  • Tethered Canon 7D to my Mac
  • Used EOS Utility to shoot a pic every 4 secs. Shot a 1000 images
  • Used Lightroom slideshow to compile the video
  • Further edited it with iMovie
  • Published it!!

Ta da !

Ragadi @ Zoo

Last fall, we had a great daddy-son day out at the MN, Zoo. It was beautiful fall day and we had loads of fun. There are many pictures from this trip that’s mind blowing. Almost no crowd, had by 70-300, and let my kiddo loose.

Portraiture

Working on some portrait lighting with my speedlite. Got a beautiful model to pose for me.

Got more pictures that I will upload as I process them. Also using this opportunity to hone my LightRoom skills as well.

Gateway Arch

St. Louis Gateway Arch – A marvel of modern engineering. It never ceases to amaze me when you are standing next to it and photographs seldom do justice.

This arch is exactly 603×603 but you get a feeling that its more taller. You can read more about it here.

Windmill farms have always evoked a mysterious, otherworldly feeling every time I came across one. I have friends in St. Louis, Indianapolis and whenever I take a road trip, I have been tempted to stop by the never ending farms of these man made giants. The timing on most of the times have been not photogenic. This time though, it was perfect. We hit this one right when a new day was blooming. Even though the temperature was in single digits, I had to brave the freezing weather to snap this one. A warm cup of coffee soon after was also a bliss!

Let me know what you guys think.

Artificial Light – Part 2

In my previous post on Artificial Light, I was going to follow up with photos of “Wrist Watch”. Well Avengers was more interesting. These are my Son’ favorite toys. The 3 pics here were taken with: 1) Backlight, 2) Main Light+Back Light, 3) Main Light+Flood Light+Back Light. Can you identify […]In my previous post on Artificial Light, I was going to follow up with photos of “Wrist Watch”. Well Avengers was more interesting. These are my Son’ favorite toys. I like the back-lit heroes. Looks menacing!
